Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025: PM Modi Leads Grand Celebration at Statue of Unity

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on Friday were marked by a spectacular show of unity and patriotism at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas reminds us of Sardar Patel’s unmatched dedication to national unity and integration. May the spirit of oneness continue to guide our nation.”

Recalling Patel’s role in uniting the country, he added, “After Independence, Sardar Patel achieved the seemingly impossible task of merging over 550 princely states. His vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ continues to inspire us.”

PM Modi also emphasized the government’s efforts to curb internal threats, saying, “Since 2014, our government has delivered a decisive blow to Naxalism and Maoist terrorism. On this day, our resolve is to eliminate every infiltrator living in India.”

The event commemorated the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man who united the nation.

The grand ceremony began with PM Modi offering floral tributes and prayers at the 182-metre-tall Statue of Unity, reaffirming Patel’s vision of national integration. This was followed by a vibrant parade showcasing the strength and discipline of India’s armed and police forces.

Contingents from the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG, and NDRF participated, along with police units from several states including Assam, Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, and Jammu & Kashmir. NCC cadets also joined the march, adding youthful energy to the event.

A special highlight was the presence of five Shaurya Chakra awardees from the CRPF and 16 gallantry medal winners from the BSF. PM Modi took the ceremonial salute from the BSF heroes who participated in Operation Sindoor.

The Assam Police’s Motorcycle Daredevils wowed the audience with daring stunts, while the Gujarat Police Horse Contingent, BSF Camel Contingent, and camel-mounted band lent a majestic touch. The CRPF’s Taekwondo and martial arts display, performed to Vande Mataram, showcased the courage and precision of India’s forces.

Among the most endearing moments was the demonstration by the BSF’s indigenous dog squad led by ‘Riya,’ a Mudhol Hound who won the All India Police Dog Competition. The display highlighted how Indian breeds like Mudhol and Rampur Hounds are now part of national security operations.

The cultural segment, choreographed by Manish Pandey, featured a dance performance titled Vallabh Sardar Hamare by NCC cadets. NDRF and NSG teams also showcased coordinated rescue drills symbolizing India’s readiness during emergencies.

Tableaux from Manipur, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand brought regional diversity to the celebration, while school bands and artists performed patriotic pieces celebrating India’s unity in diversity.
