Commuters in Ahmedabad are likely to face traffic disruptions over the next few weeks, as the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has started major repair work on the Tragad Underpass and Vatva Railway Overbridge along the Sardar Patel Ring Road.
According to a notification from the Ahmedabad Traffic Police, both bridges will remain closed for 40 days, with phased diversions and alternative routes announced to ease congestion.
At the Tragad Underpass, repairs will be carried out in two phases:
- Phase 1 (first 20 days): Zundal Bridge to Vaishnodevi Circle stretch closed.
- Phase 2 (next 20 days): Vaishnodevi Circle to Zundal Bridge stretch closed.A 4.33 km section of the SP Ring Road will remain shut during this period.
Commuters are advised to use the Adalaj–Vaishnodevi route as an alternative.
Similarly, the Vatva Railway Overbridge will also be under repair for 40 days:
- Phase 1: Hathijan Circle to Aslali Circle closed.
- Phase 2: Aslali Circle to Hathijan Circle closed.Motorists should use the Ropda Crossroads–Saraswati Crossroads route instead.
Meanwhile, at Kalupur Railway Station, a six-month road closure between DCP Zone-3 and Relief Road has been announced for girder installation work on bridge pillars. However, the road directly in front of the station will remain open for vehicles.Authorities have urged commuters to follow diversion signs, use alternate routes, and plan their travel in advance to avoid delays during the ongoing repair period.
