Shree Narayana Commerce College (SNCC) has assured students that it will refund or adjust the excess fees collected from around 900 first-semester Bachelor of Commerce students.
The decision comes after Gujarat University issued a show-cause notice to the college over the alleged overcharging. As per the revised arrangement, students will receive 1,750 either as a refund or as an adjustment in their next semester’s fees.
Earlier, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) had accused the college of collecting 9,700 per student — comprising ₹7,500 as tuition fees and 2,200 as other fees — in violation of the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) rules. According to FRC norms, the approved tuition fee is 5,750, and colleges may charge an additional ₹1,750 under other heads, making the total permissible fee 7,500.
