Dr Chelva Kasivisvanathan Chelvakumar, PhD, MBA, Professor of Finance and Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and Executive Vice President of the International Fin-Tec Institute, Innovatrix, GIFT City Ltd, participated as an invited speaker at the Business Interaction with H.E. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, organized jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) at Hotel ITC Maurya, New Delhi.
The event brought together senior industry leaders, policymakers, and academic experts to discuss emerging opportunities for bilateral collaboration between India and Sri Lanka in areas such as sustainable development, digital innovation, and trade facilitation.
Dr Chelvakumar shared insights on cross-disciplinary innovation in finance and engineering, highlighting the growing synergy between technology, sustainability, and economic resilience in South Asia.
The session was addressed by H.E. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who underscored Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering stronger business and academic linkages with India. The program also featured remarks from Mr. Tejpreet Chopra, Chairman, CII AI Forum, and Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Managing Director & CEO, Texmaco Defence Systems Pvt. Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Chelvakumar emphasized, “Collaborative innovation and fintech-enabled development are essential for inclusive growth and regional stability.” The value of AI in the effective implementation of Anti Money Laundering (AML) and the subsequent fraud detection were also recognized.
