UNM Foundation initiative aims to provide affordable neurological care
The UNM Foundation, supported by Torrent Group, on Sunday inaugurated ‘Sankalan’, a state-of-the-art neuro-rehabilitation centre in Ahmedabad, designed to offer affordable care for patients with neurological disorders, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.
The centre provides individualised, multi-disciplinary therapy programs to aid recovery from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, and degenerative neurological conditions. Equipped with advanced technology such as functional near-infrared spectroscopy (FNIRS), non-invasive brain stimulation, and robotic rehabilitation aids, Sankalan combines science, technology, and compassion to help patients regain independence and dignity.
Speaking about the initiative, Torrent Group Director Jinal Mehta said, “Sankalan is a pilot project that blends science, compassion, and technology to support individuals with neurological challenges. The centre will cater to in-patients (IPD) as well, and we plan to replicate this model in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and eventually across the country.”
