UGC approval granted for online BBA, MBA, and MCA courses
Ganpat University, a private university in Gujarat, will now offer three fully online programmes starting this academic year, after receiving approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is among only 13 in India to be granted this permission, according to a recent UGC circular.
The online courses include:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA – General)
- Master of Business Administration (MBA – General)
- Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
The UGC circular specifies that the permission applies to academic sessions starting from July–August 2025 up to January–February 2030. Universities offering these programmes do not need prior approval, recommendation, or NOC from AICTE for courses in Management, Computer Applications, and Travel & Tourism, as per the 578th Commission decision. Universities must admit students by October 15 this year. Ganpat University has already started admissions.
Girish Patel, Registrar of Ganpat University, said the UGC has sanctioned 1,000 seats for each course. “These programmes are aimed at professional degree seekers or those looking to earn an additional degree while working or studying. Classes will be conducted through a mix of live and recorded online lectures, with proctored online exams to maintain exam integrity,” he explained.
Fees:
- MBA and MCA (2 years): ₹96,000 each
- BBA (3 years): ₹90,000
