Navsari, Gujarat – Heavy overnight rain accompanied by strong winds caused widespread damage across several villages in Navsari district, particularly in Chikhli and Vansada talukas.
According to reports, villages including Chikhli, Talav Chora, Maliadhara, and Soladhara were badly affected. Powerful gusts blew away the roofs of several houses, damaging household items and leaving many families exposed. Electricity supply was disrupted after poles were uprooted, while foodgrains stored by villagers were soaked. Farmers and cattle owners also suffered losses as fodder was spoiled, and rooftop solar panels were damaged or displaced in some areas.
In Chikhli, the wall of a government grain warehouse collapsed during the downpour, submerging over 277 tons of wheat and rice. Efforts are currently underway to salvage the soaked grains, said warehouse manager Jignesh Chaudhary.
Local officials, including the Chikhli Mamlatdar, visited the affected villages to assess the damage. Gandevi-Chikhli MLA Naresh Patel confirmed extensive destruction to homes and farmland, adding that he personally inspected the storm-hit areas on Saturday night.
