Ahmedabad Railway Station in Kalupur has completed the substructure work for Platforms 8 and 9 after 70 days of intensive construction. The project used 4,800 cubic metres of concrete and 510 metric tonnes of steel. With this, major trains that were temporarily diverted will now resume operations from Kalupur station.
The redevelopment, led by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), is part of a broader effort to transform Ahmedabad station into a modern, world-class facility. Work has been ongoing for over two years, including the construction of a massive concourse measuring 503 metres long and 140 metres wide to allow easy passenger access across all nine platforms.
During a 70-day mega block from July 5, teams completed 146 piles, 38 pile caps, and 76 pedestals. The substructure work also included four elevator pits and four escalator pits, marking a major milestone in the station’s redevelopment.
