Singer Kinjal Dave will not be able to perform her hit song ‘Char Char Bangdiwala’ during this year’s Navratri celebrations, as the Gujarat High Court has suspended its earlier order allowing her to sing it.
The dispute dates back to 2019, when Red Ribbon Entertainment filed a copyright suit in Ahmedabad against Dave, RDC Media, and Saraswati Studio. Music composer Kartik Patel alleged that he had originally created the song, which Dave later released on YouTube, allegedly copying his work.
Although a civil court dismissed the suit in January 2024, ruling in Dave’s favour, Red Ribbon appealed to the high court, which initially stayed her from performing the song at public events. Earlier this month, the high court lifted the stay, giving temporary relief to the singer.
However, following Red Ribbon’s fresh appeal, the court has now put its own order on hold until November 4. Unless Dave secures relief before then, she cannot perform the song during the Navratri festivities.
