A SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 aircraft carrying 75 passengers declared a full emergency at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Friday after one of its wheels fell off during takeoff from Kandla, Gujarat.
Kandla ATC staff noticed an object fall from the aircraft soon after departure and later recovered a wheel and metal parts from the runway. They immediately alerted the pilot.
Fire and rescue teams were placed on high alert in Mumbai, but the flight landed safely at 4 pm, officials said.
