Ahmedabad has received 36.56 inches of rainfall this season, crossing 100% of its average after recording just over an inch in the past 24 hours.
By Saturday evening, the water level at Vasna Barrage stood at 126.75 feet, with inflows of 95,576 cusecs from Dharoi dam pushing total discharge in the Sabarmati river to 1,22,573 cusecs. To manage rising levels, 27 gates of the barrage (gates 3–29) were opened.
The southwest zone recorded the highest rainfall at 1.3 inches, followed by the north, central, and west zones with 1.1 inches each. The south received 1 inch, while east and northwest zones logged 0.75 inches.
Despite steady showers, Ganesh Visarjan processions went ahead with large participation across the city.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Sunday, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Ahmedabad.
