Ahmedabad Police penalised more than 300 vehicle owners on Tuesday during a citywide crackdown on cars with black tinted glass and those without number plates.
By 5 pm on September 3, officials had registered 311 cases of vehicles using dark films, collecting fines worth 1.18 lakh. Another 129 cases were booked for missing number plates, adding penalties of 72,000.
The highest number of black film violations was recorded in the ‘K’ post jurisdiction with 44 cases (26,400 collected), followed by 45 cases in the ‘N’ post (13,800) and 33 in the ‘M’ post. For missing number plates, the ‘A’ post led with 27 cases (13,500), followed by ‘SG-2’ with 20 cases and ‘L’ post with 13. Police also detained 30 vehicles during the drive.
A senior officer said the action would continue in the coming days, stressing that such violations pose both a legal and security risk. Traffic authorities have urged motorists not to tamper with number plates or use unauthorised films, warning of stricter checks in busy and sensitive zones.
