Construction has begun on a new bridge across the Mahi River in Vadodara’s Padra taluka, next to the collapsed Gambhira Bridge, with a deadline set for September 2026.The Roads and Buildings Department has awarded the ₹166 crore project to Gujarat-based Mangalam Construction Company, which received the work order on August 14. Campsite development is underway, and machinery is being moved to the site ahead of foundation work.The new bridge will restore the vital Anand–Vadodara road link disrupted after the 43-year-old Gambhira Bridge collapsed on July 9, killing 20 people. A chemical-laden truck that had been dangling since the incident was finally removed in August.
