Commuters on Ahmedabad’s SG Highway faced heavy jams on Thursday after a 1.2 km stretch between YMCA Club and Karnavati Club was closed for six months to facilitate flyover ramp construction.
Vehicles moving from YMCA to Karnavati Club now have to take a 2 km detour, causing delays not only for city commuters but also for those heading towards Saurashtra. Authorities have advised motorists to leave 15–20 minutes earlier to reach their destinations on time.
To ease congestion, traffic police have surveyed the route and will deploy personnel. The construction company has also agreed to help in traffic management. Meanwhile, the Iskcon–Sarkhej road will remain open for movement.
Alternate routes announced
From Sarkhej/Sanand: Turn left from YMCA crossroads towards Bhagwan Circle, then right to Zaveri (Chakri) Circle, and take another right to reach Karnavati Club/SG Highway.
From Prahladnagar to Karnavati Club: Either take a left towards YMCA and use the inner road to reach Karnavati, or turn right and use the service road up to Karnavati Junction.
