Ten days after a Class 8 student fatally stabbed a Class 10 student inside Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra, the Ahmedabad City District Education Officer (DEO) has asked the school to furnish BU permission, recognition papers and other supporting documents.
Earlier, DEO Rohit Chaudhari had served two show-cause notices to the school, questioning why its recognition/NOC should not be revoked. Though the school management met the DEO in person, their explanations were rejected. The DEO has also ordered the removal of the principal and negligent staff linked to the incident.
In the latest notice, the DEO has sought:
- Approvals for running Classes 1–12 and permissions for expansion
- NOC from Gujarat Government for ICSE board affiliation
- BU permission and approval letters
- Ownership/rental documents of the building and playground
- Floor-wise approved building maps
- Trust deed, PTR records, ICSE affiliation certificate, and Fire NOC
- Class-wise student strength, list of teachers with qualifications and salaries
- Recognition/NOC of colleges running inside the campus, if any
The school has been told to submit all documents by Friday. Meanwhile, as per earlier orders, the process of dismissing the principal and administrative/security staff has begun, and a new principal may soon be appointed.
Amid the crisis, the school has received 110 withdrawal applications from parents. Of these, transfer procedures for 32 students are nearly complete, with leaving certificates being processed for admission to other schools.
