Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Gujarat were marred by accidents on Wednesday, leaving one child dead and several devotees injured in Ankleshwar, while two people died in a separate incident in Navsari.In Ankleshwar’s Harikrupa Society near Gadkhol, a tempo carrying a DJ hit children dancing behind it during a Ganesh procession. Five-year-old Navya died on the spot, while three other children were hospitalised. Police said the accident occurred after a society resident, Chirag Vyas, lost control of the tempo’s steering.In another incident, a bull, agitated by loud music, went on a rampage at a Ganesh procession in Ankleshwar’s GIDC area, injuring 8–10 people, including four women. CCTV footage of the chaos has gone viral on social media.Meanwhile, in Navsari’s Karadi village, two people were electrocuted and five others injured on Monday while bringing in a Ganesh idol. The group reportedly tried to lift high-tension wires using an iron pipe, which came in contact with electricity.The back-to-back incidents have cast a shadow of grief over the start of Ganesh Utsav festivities in the state.
