The Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) has ordered the immediate dismissal of the principal and other staff members of Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) School, holding them responsible for serious lapses that led to the alleged murder of a Class 10 student by a schoolmate on August 19.
The action follows public outrage and protests by student groups, including ABVP, which demanded the school’s closure. Earlier notices seeking explanations from the management were deemed unsatisfactory.
The DEO has also warned that the school’s recognition and government NOC could be revoked.Investigators from the Crime Branch found gross negligence by the principal, security guards, and administrative staff. Police complaints have already been filed against them. The DEO has instructed the school to submit a compliance report on the dismissals without delay.
Meanwhile, nearly 70 parents have sought transfer certificates for their children. SDA School, run by the Seventh Day Adventist Organisation with its regional office in Pune, has over 9,000 students enrolled across multiple boards from Grade 1 to 12.
