The historic and culturally rich Tarnetar Fair, held near Trinetreshwar Mahadev Temple in Thangadh taluka of Surendranagar, will be celebrated from August 26 to 29 (Bhadarva Sud 3rd to 6th) in an atmosphere of devotion, folk traditions and joy.
Known for its historical, mythological, and religious significance, the fair attracts thousands of devotees and tourists every year.This year’s fair will feature a wide array of programs, including folk dance performances, Santvani, rural sports festivals, traditional competitions, and cultural shows.
August 26: Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera and Water Supply Minister Kunwarjibhai Bavaliya will inaugurate the fair with worship rituals of Lord Trinetreshwar Mahadev, cattle fair, rural sports festival, and Santvani programs in the evening.
August 27 (Ganesh Chaturthi): The ceremonial flag hoisting will be led by Mahant Nirmalaba Undabapu, followed by a Lokdaira showcasing Gujarat’s folk artists.
August 28: Mahant will perform Ganga Avtaran Aarti, followed by flag hoisting by Jhala Yashpal Singh Divyaraj Singhji. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel along with state ministers will join the Shiv Puja, rural sports festival and cultural events. The evening will feature a grand folk dance performance.
August 29: The fair will conclude with the Ganga Viday Aarti in the morning, followed by the closing ceremony with flag hoisting by district officials.The Tarnetar fair, blending devotion with vibrant folk culture, continues to be one of Gujarat’s most iconic and awaited celebrations.
