IIT Gandhinagar, in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has resumed the country’s largest online teacher capacity building program, 3030 – Eklavya – Season 3 (Phase-2), from 15th August, 2025.
The program aims to transform STEM education nationwide by making the curriculum more engaging, creative, and meaningful. Its impact has been remarkable, with the series achieving over 2 crore online views, an average watch time of 18 minutes per 45-minute episode, and even trending as the 26th most popular video on YouTube. This milestone reflects that, when presented engagingly, educational content can attract viewership comparable to films or sports.
Earlier, Phase-1 of Season 3 was livestreamed every Sunday from January 26, 2025, covering five episodes. Topics ranged from fundamental optics, algebra, trigonometry, mechanics, waves, plant processes, and toy-based pedagogy to experiential learning frameworks that brought academic concepts alive through real-life applications.
Phase-2 of Season 3, which began on August 15, 2025, opened with an episode on Computational Thinking with तराज़ू (Weighing Balance), introducing participants to the fundamentals of digital technologies in an unplugged, creative way using paper, dominoes, playing cards, water, and pulleys to build DIY computers. Episode 2 focuses on enzymes — natural catalysts that speed up all cell reactions, breaking down or building molecules — and are vital for life, influenced by various factors.
The weekly program, streamed every Sunday, focuses on enhancing conceptual understanding and critical thinking in Mathematics and Science, while addressing a long-standing gap in India’s education system: the over-reliance on rote learning with limited opportunities for hands-on exploration and creative problem-solving.
So far, the 3030 Eklavya series (18 episodes) and the 3030 STEM series (26 episodes) have together reached more than 65,000 registrations in Season 3, with earlier seasons attracting close to 80,000 registrations each. The program has also collected over 25,000 projects and assignments, underlining the growing demand for interactive and engaging teacher training models.
Designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the initiative offers 30 hours of professional development. While registration is free, a nominal fee is applicable for certification.
By integrating creativity with the curriculum, the 3030 Eklavya program is shaping a new direction for STEM education in India, where learning is not only informative but also innovative, enjoyable, and future-ready.
