A 23-year-old man from Sanathal has accused Gujarati folk artist Devayat Khavad and 12–15 others of violently attacking him near Gir over a payment dispute, police said.
According to a media report, victim Dhruvrajsinh Chauhan suffered multiple fractures and was robbed of a gold chain worth 15–17 tolas and ₹42,000–₹43,000 in cash. The assailants allegedly forced his car off the road using two vehicles, then smashed it and beat him with pipes. One attacker reportedly threatened him with an illegal revolver, citing an earlier case Chauhan had filed.
The attack is linked to a February dispute over payment for a Dayra performance. Chauhan believes the group tracked him via a social media post. Though the attackers had covered their faces, he claims to have identified Khavad during the assault.
Talala police have registered a case and are investigating while Chauhan receives treatment at a Junagadh hospital.
