With Rakshabandhan approaching, trains from Ahmedabad to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana are running at full capacity. Most long-distance trains are either on long waiting lists or show ‘Regret’, meaning no tickets are available, even on the waitlist.
According to a media report, trains to cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur are the worst affected. For August 8, a day before the festival, major trains like the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Special, Sabarmati Express, and Guwahati Express show no availability in sleeper or AC classes.
Despite the high demand, railway officials have confirmed that no special trains will be run. With regular bookings full, many passengers are now depending on Tatkal tickets.
