For the first time, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will host a Navratri festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront. Titled Rangtali Riverfront, the three-day celebration will take place from September 26 to 28 at the Riverfront Event Centre.
According to a media report, the event will be organised by the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRDCL), which has already invited proposals from event management companies through a public advertisement.
Entry to the event will be fully digital. Tickets will be available only online, with entry granted via barcode scanning to enhance security and prevent unauthorised access.
The garba venue will be divided into four blocks — A, B, C, and D — with arrangements for secure parking, food and beverage stalls, and strict security. CCTV cameras will be installed throughout the premises, and entry points will be tightly monitored to ensure a safe experience for attendees.
According to SRDCL, the event will be theme-based and managed by a professional event company. Interested organisers must meet specific eligibility criteria, including having managed at least three events worth over ₹1 crore, having a minimum digital following of one lakh across platforms like Instagram and YouTube, and maintaining ties with at least five well-known celebrities.
It is yet to be decided whether the AMC will fully fund the festival or follow a revenue-sharing model with the selected organiser.
Rangtali Riverfront will showcase performances by prominent Gujarati artistes and is expected to draw large crowds. To boost public participation, the AMC will promote the event through social media influencers and digital campaigns. Ticket prices and food stall rates will be announced soon.
