With the rapid rise of the quick-commerce industry in Vadodara—delivering everything from hot meals to daily groceries—a growing number of individuals are finding employment as delivery workers. Breaking stereotypes, many of them are degree holders.
According to a media report, a recent survey by an MBA student from M S University’s Faculty of Management found that 50% of food delivery workers in the city hold graduate or postgraduate degrees. The study highlights a notable shift: delivery jobs are no longer limited to the unskilled or uneducated but are now a source of income for educated youth as well.
The survey, which included 49 respondents under the age of 48 from various delivery companies, revealed that 40% had graduate-level qualifications, while 9 respondents had completed post-graduate studies. Meanwhile, 21% had studied up to Class 12 or less.
Interestingly, 42% of respondents worked part-time, with many using their earnings to fund their education. Others juggled delivery work alongside full-time jobs to supplement their income. Most had been in the role for over a year, underscoring the job’s growing acceptance among educated individuals seeking financial stability.
