After receiving complaints from parents about St. Xavier’s Loyola Hall not complying with the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) order to refund or adjust excess fees, the DEO (City) on Thursday directed the school to follow the instructions.
According to a media report, the school charged ₹16,589 more than the fee set by the FRC and had been unwilling to refund or adjust the extra amount. The school had appealed against the FRC order last year.
“The school was charging an estimated Rs 39, 360 fees per year against the FRC’s permission of collecting Rs 22,500. The school was asked to refund the fees or adjust in other fees but the order was not obeyed. We issued a show-cause notice. The school said they had approached FRC with an appeal and so the refund has not been done. However, on Thursday, we asked the school to refund the excess fee without waiting for the appeal’s hearing or the FRC’s further order,” DEO City Rohit Chaudhari said.
