Ahmedabad Rural Police raided a high-profile birthday party late Sunday night at the Glade One Golf Club and Resort in Sanand, acting on a tip-off about alcohol consumption and a gathering of around 70 to 80 guests.
The raid was carried out by teams from Sanand, Changodar, and Bopal police stations, accompanied by two independent witnesses. The event was reportedly organised by Pratik Sanghi, a resident of Ahmedabad.
According to a media report, police conducted breath analyser tests on several male and female guests. Preliminary results indicated that 13 men and 26 women were suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. All 39 individuals were taken for medical examinations, and their blood samples were collected for further lab analysis.
Police also seized five sealed bottles of liquor from the premises, along with other items as evidence. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at ₹90,520. The items recovered include:
- 5 sealed bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor
- 8 partially consumed liquor bottles (glass/plastic)
- 20 empty liquor bottles of various brands
- 52 drinking glasses
- 7 plastic hookah pipes
- 30 cigarette packets
- 1 mobile phone
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. Further legal proceedings are underway.
This raid is part of a broader crackdown by the city police and excise department, which have intensified enforcement of prohibition laws, particularly at upscale venues and farmhouses on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
