Corona Virus

In the last 24 hours, Gujarat has recorded 170 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 717. Out of these, only 23 patients are hospitalized, while the remaining 694 are recovering at home. Thankfully, no deaths were reported during this period, and 68 patients have recovered.

Most Patients in Home Isolation

As of May 29, Gujarat had only 223 active Covid cases. In just one week, the number has increased by over 300%. The Health Department has advised patients under home isolation to regularly monitor their health and seek help immediately if they face breathing difficulties or chest pain.

New Variants Found in Genome Tests

Genome sequencing at the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC) in Gandhinagar has found variants such as JN.1, LF.7, LF.7.9, and XFG among the positive cases. Officials say such spikes happen every 6–8 months and there is no need to panic.

Kerala currently has the highest number of active Covid cases in the country at 1,679, followed by Gujarat, and then West Bengal with 596.

Covid Situation in Ahmedabad

As of 11 am Friday, Ahmedabad reported 88 new cases and 34 recoveries. From May 1 to June 6, the city has reported 559 cases, 183 recoveries, and two deaths. At present, 374 patients are under treatment in the city.

Patients at Civil Hospitals

Seven Covid patients are being treated at the Civil Hospital in Asarwa, including a 72-year-old man and an 8-month-old girl, both in stable condition. A 24-year-old man is on oxygen support and a 60-year-old woman is using an NRBM mask. A 37-year-old woman was discharged on Friday. Three other patients are under treatment at Sola Civil Hospital.
