With an aim to host 2036 Olympic Games, India has reportedly submitted an official bid to conduct the 2030 Commonwealth Games with Ahmedabad selected as the host city for the event.
According to a report in PTI, a top sports ministry confirmed on Thursday (March 20) it has been a move that has been in the making for several weeks. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha has sent a letter to Commonwealth Games Federation president Chris Jenkins.
The last date to submit the ‘Expression of Interest (EOI)’ to host the Games is March 31 and India’s letter was sent by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) a few days ago. “Yes, it is true, India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games has been submitted by the IOA and the state of Gujarat,” the ministry source told PTI.
