The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a set of guidelines and SOPs to conduct the practical examinations, projects, and internal assessments for classes 10 and 12 for the academic year 2024-25. The practical exams are scheduled from January 1 to February 14, 2025.
According to the new guidelines, all practical exam marks must be uploaded simultaneously, starting from the dates the exams are conducted i.e between January 1 and February 14, 2025. Schools have also been instructed to ensure that the correct marks are uploaded, as no corrections will be allowed once the marks are submitted. The practical answer book now includes a feature where both internal and external examiners are required to provide an undertaking confirming that the correct data has been uploaded. In cases of unfair means, examiners are required to report any such incidents to the concerned Regional Office along with all relevant facts, papers, and witnesses. The board has stated that action will be taken if the use of unfair means affects the assessment.
The board also mentioned that if schools fail to comply with the prescribed guidelines, they reserve the right to cancel the practical exams and may reconsider conducting the practical exams under the board’s supervision.
For Class 10, the board has specified that no external examiner will be appointed, and the schools will be responsible for arranging the practical answer books, which will not be provided by the board. Additionally, Class 10 practical answer books are not required to be sent to the Regional Office.
For Class 12, an external examiner will be appointed by the board to conduct the practical exams. Schools are not permitted to make alternative arrangements for external examiners. The board has also indicated that observers may be appointed in schools to oversee the fair conduct of the practical exams.
