Academic Calendar of Govt Universities in Gujarat 2024–25; Delay expected for UG-PG Sem-1

Summer vacation in all government universities in Gujarat ended on Sunday. The new academic session begins today, June 24, with UG semesters 3 and 5 and PG semester 3 commencing. However, education experts doubt that the UG and PG semester 1 sessions may not begin on June 26 as proposed in the Academic Calendar due to delays in the common admission process through the Gujarat Common Admission Service (GCAS).

As per the Academic Calendar, the new academic session for Gujarat University, along with other universities, was originally set to start on June 16, but the Lok Sabha elections caused changes in the summer vacation schedule. The summer break, initially planned from May 1 to June 15, was shifted to May 9 to June 23.

For the academic year 2024-25, the first semester, from June 26 to December 14, will include 124 days of teaching. Diwali vacation is scheduled from October 27 to November 16. Internal assessments like weekly tests, group discussions, and project work will take place from November 18 to December 14.

The second semester will run from December 16, 2024, to April 28, 2025, with 106 days of teaching. Internal assessments for this semester will take place from April 1 to April 27. Summer vacation will then start from April 29 to June 16, 2025. The next academic session for 2025-26 will begin on June 17, 2025.
