A couple from Ahmedabad, Hitesh and Shivangi Patel, was nabbed after a two-day watch by the police over a visa process fraud of ₹22.42 lakh.
The complaint was filed by a student living in Vadodara’s Harni, where the student was promised to be ‘settled’ in Canada by the couple.
According to the complaint, the student had paid the duo ₹28.92 lakh for the Canada immigration process and visa. However, when multiple visits to the couple yielded no results, the complainant had asked for his money back.
Despite repeated demands, the couple only paid back ₹6.5 lakh to the student, and the remaining ₹22.42 was never returned.
