Falls pose a significant risk to the well-being of older adults – one third of the world’s 65+ population have a fall at least once a year. Half of those who lie on the floor longer than an hour often don’t survive beyond 6 months. Recognizing this context, Mumbai based Welldercare Agetech, a pioneer dedicated to addressing the needs of an ageing population, has announced its partnership with Belgium-based Agetech Company Nobi, a provider of innovative AgeTech solutions to introduce the ‘Nobi Smart Lamp’ to the Indian market, which offers immediate help in the event of a fall.
This partnership aims to tackle the global problem of falls among older adults by offering an innovative and life-saving solution on the IKSANA platform, a flagship product by Welldercare, which has brought together the service layers and integration with IoT and Ai ambient intelligence technologies. Welldercare Agetech has the market rights for the Nobi range in India, APAC, and GCC markets, further expanding their portfolio of innovative solutions for older adults.
Roeland Pelgrims, co-founder and CEO of Nobi said, “We are delighted to partner with Welldercare Agetech and bring our AI-powered Smart Lamp to India. With the global population of individuals aged 65 and over projected to double by 2060, it is imperative to provide innovative solutions that support their independence and well-being. Together with Welldercare Agetech and their unique IKSANA platform, we aim to enrich the lives of older adults in India and enable them to live with confidence and security.”
“The Nobi Smart Lamp aligns perfectly with our mission of leveraging technology to address the needs of the ageing population. Together, we aim to enhance the safety and well-being of older adults in India by providing an effective solution for fall detection and prevention. Our IKSANA platform, completely designed and developed in India by our team, is 100% non-intrusive in nature, said Kanishka Acharya, Founder and CEO of Welldercare Agetech.”
Knowingly, falls are the leading cause of death by injury among elderly citizens. While existing solutions such as wearable devices offer a limited solution, user compliance is very low – falls mostly occur at night while going to the bathroom, and not many senior citizens sleep with a wearable device. Understanding the urgent need of something innovative and unique, Welldercare Agetech and Nobi have joined forces.
Nobi’s flagship device, ‘AI-powered Smart Lamp’ supports the safety of older adults by providing fall detection and prevention. It provides targeted senior living care and helps relieve busy care workers from repetitive tasks.
Welldercare Agetech’s partnership with Nobi has brought the award-winning Nobi Smart Lamp to India, following its successful launch in the EU and US markets. With Nobi’s foray into the Indian Market, Welldercare is building a channel partner network in a B2B2C strategy pan-India by integrating retail outlets and smart home integrators to cover all Tier-1 cities in the first phase and tier-2 cities in phase 2 in 2024.
It plans to build a similar omni-channel network in the APAC region & GCC markets. By the end of 2024, the company aims to be present in over 1,500 retail outlets in India and a further 17,500 outlets in the GCC & APAC regions in addition to a focused digital marketing push. Welldercare is targeting revenues of US$ 15.3 million in India in 2023-24, $29.8 Mn in 2024 -25 and $42.6 Mn in ’25 -26.
