To deal with Cyclone Biparjoy, the AMC announced its preparedness plan. The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to close the lower promenade on both sides of the Sabarmati riverfront to the public on June 15-16.
Recreational activities on the riverfront will also be canceled on these two days and the civic body has kept 15 units of fire brigade on standby.
A special meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of AMC chief and officials of various departments including Amdavad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) officials and officials of executive.
A senior AMC official said the civic body has completed pruning of 2,111 trees, checking of 1,31,478 road poles, 1,864 hoardings and strength checks of cellular towers in the city. The official said strength checks on 1,380 hoardings have been completed and 907 hoardings and temporary advertisements have been removed.
