Gujarat police received gold from the Government of India’s Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DAR&PG) for its Trinetra initiative. Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, presented the award for 2021-22 at the 25th National Conference on e-Governance.
Trinetra is a Command and Control Centre for Gujarat Police that integrates CCTV camera networks, body-worn cameras, and a drone-based camera system that allows for 24-hour monitoring from Gandhinagar.
The network has helped in the detection of 1600 thefts, approximately 1000 cases of chain snatching, and over 600 hit-and-run accidents.
Additional DGP Narsimha Komar said the initiative offers a complete solution for the prevention, detection and investigation of criminal cases with the help of video analytics.
