An unidentified individual allegedly impersonating Ellisbridge BJP MLA Amit Shah contacted a Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) official, seeking approval for a healthcare company’s licence and questioning the delay in clearing its application. Following a complaint by the legislator, Vasna police have registered an FIR against the unidentified caller.
According to the complaint, Shah, 67, was at his office in Vasna on October 29 when he received a call from FDCA Assistant Commissioner S N Gadhvi, who is posted in Gandhinagar. Gadhvi asked Shah whether he had contacted him and Drugs Inspector Parth Patel regarding the approval of a licence for Pulse Health Care. Shah denied making any such call and expressed surprise over the inquiry.
Gadhvi subsequently informed Shah that an individual using the mobile number 9909283312 had contacted him earlier that day, posing as the Ellisbridge MLA. The caller allegedly questioned the delay in granting the healthcare company’s licence and accused the official of failing to clear the application. When Gadhvi suggested taking up the matter with the Health Minister, the caller reportedly expressed willingness to speak to the minister.
Shah later received a video recording of the conversation from the FDCA official, which allegedly showed the unidentified person impersonating him. On November 4, Shah lodged a police complaint, alleging that the caller had misused his public position and attempted to damage his reputation.
Vasna police have registered an FIR against the unidentified accused under Sections 204 and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
