The opening One Day International (ODI) match between India and Sri Lanka, initially slated for December 13 in Delhi, will now take place in Visakhapatnam. This decision comes amid growing concerns regarding potential weather disruptions and ongoing renovations at the Delhi stadium.
According to reports, the outfield at the original venue is currently being relaid as part of a major redevelopment project. As a result, preparing for international matches has become increasingly complicated. Furthermore, December’s notorious air quality issues in the national capital raised additional alarms.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) expressed its worries and subsequently requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider an alternative location for the fixture. With these factors in play, Vizag emerged as a suitable choice for hosting this important match.
