As November rolls in, five significant changes are set to impact millions across India. From transportation regulations to new GST procedures, the effects will be felt by vehicle owners, mobile users, businesspeople, and pensioners.
First up, the government has introduced a ₹1,500 annual pass for private vehicle owners living within a 20-kilometer radius of toll plazas. This initiative aims to ease expenses for residents near these busy areas.
But that’s not all. In Delhi, a ban on older non-BS6 vehicles from other states takes effect today. This is part of the winter action plan aimed at reducing pollution levels and will remain in place until January 31, 2027. Meanwhile, heavy vehicles will face a permanent ban on the Mumbai-Pune expressway’s new connectivity links.
Changes in GST processes are also on the agenda. Reports suggest plans for automatic tax refunds to speed up processing for small businesses and traders with less than ₹5 crore turnover. This could alleviate some financial strain on local entrepreneurs.
In Tamil Nadu, buying liquor priced over ₹1,000 now requires digital payment only; cash won’t be accepted anymore as part of an effort to promote transparency.
A big shift for mobile users comes with the introduction of CNAP (Caller Name Presentation). This feature will display unknown caller names on screens during calls from unfamiliar numbers—similar to how Truecaller operates—helping users avoid scams.
Bank Holidays
- Banks will close on various days throughout November due to holidays such as Diwali and Guru Nanak Jayanti.
Pension Updates
- Pensioners must submit their life certificates by November 30; those over 80 began this process earlier last month.
