Questions have been raised over the qualifications of dialysis technicians working at government-supported dialysis centres in Gujarat. According to claims citing a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, 346 of the 662 technicians working across the state were recruited using certificates issued by Bharat Sevak Samaj.
The figures suggest that around 52% of the technicians obtained their jobs on the basis of these certificates, raising concerns about whether their qualifications meet the prescribed recruitment requirements.
Questions Over Certificates of 346 Technicians
According to the available details, 662 technicians are working at more than 250 dialysis centres operated under the Ahmedabad-based Kidney Institute. The report has reportedly highlighted concerns over the certificates submitted by 346 technicians during recruitment.
The key question is whether the Bharat Sevak Samaj certificates are recognised as valid qualifications for these positions. Dialysis technicians play a crucial role in monitoring patients during treatment, making proper training and professional qualifications essential for patient safety.
Did Recruitment Rules Allow Class 12 to Be Completed Later?
Another concern relates to the recruitment conditions mentioned in the offer letters issued by the outsourcing agency. According to the claims, candidates were required to pass Class 12 within one year of joining the job.
This has raised questions about the educational qualifications candidates possessed at the time of recruitment and whether the appointments complied with the prescribed eligibility criteria.
Demand for a High-Level Investigation
The recruitment process has also brought the role of private recruitment agencies and the supervision of the state health department under scrutiny.
There are demands for a high-level inquiry to verify the educational certificates and professional qualifications of all the technicians concerned. Calls have also been made for appropriate action against agencies or officials if any violations of recruitment rules are established.
The validity of the certificates, the applicable eligibility requirements and the circumstances surrounding the appointments require official clarification.
