The Bhavnagar district administration has restricted the bursting of firecrackers to two hours, from 8 pm to 10 pm, during the Diwali period. The Additional District Magistrate has issued a notification outlining the restrictions, with legal action to be taken against violators.
The restrictions will remain in force from November 4 to November 30, 2026, in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines aimed at reducing noise pollution, preventing fire-related accidents and protecting public safety.
Crackers Banned in Silent Zones
Areas within a 100-metre radius of hospitals, nursing homes, health centres, educational institutions, courts and religious places have been declared silent zones. Bursting firecrackers in these areas is prohibited.
Online Sales and Foreign Crackers Prohibited
The notification prohibits the import and sale of foreign-made firecrackers. E-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart, are also prohibited from accepting online orders for or selling firecrackers under the restrictions.
The sale and use of authorised firecrackers with low noise levels are permitted, while firecrackers connected in series are prohibited.
Restrictions Near Markets and Hazardous Locations
Firecrackers are also prohibited near major markets, streets, narrow lanes, public roads, petrol pumps, LPG bottling plants, LPG storage warehouses, facilities storing other flammable materials and airports.
The administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the notification.
