The search committee constituted to select the next vice-chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has invited applications and nominations for the top post following its first meeting, formally initiating the process to appoint a full-term head for the institution. Sources said two members attended the meeting virtually.
The move comes after the tenure of former GTU vice-chancellor Rahul Gajjar ended in the first week of August. The Gujarat Education Department constituted a search committee around a fortnight ago to identify a suitable candidate for the full-time appointment.
Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience as a professor at a university or in a reputed academic or research organisation, along with a proven record of academic leadership. GTU has called for applications from distinguished educationists, serving and former vice-chancellors, and individuals with expertise in science and technology, administration or industry. The university is seeking candidates with a broad vision for human resource development and a strong commitment to institutional growth, along with high standards of professional competence, integrity and ethical conduct.
