Saroli police have barred the organisers of JG Navratri from holding Garba celebrations at a venue near Roman Dine Hotel on Puna Canal Road in Surat due to missing mandatory licences and permissions.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, police stated that the organisers had planned to hold the Navratri celebrations from October 11 to 20 but had failed to obtain the required premises licence.
According to the notice, the organisers were required to submit various documents and certificates under government regulations to secure the licence. However, they allegedly failed to provide the necessary documents despite being informed in writing, verbally and over the phone.
Police warned that the celebrations could not proceed without the required approvals and that legal action would be initiated if the organisers went ahead with the event without permission.
The notice was addressed to Shakti Gohil, a resident of Varachha, and also named three other organisers — Jay Gohil, Sahil Domadiya and Jaydeep Galoliya.
According to police, the organisers had failed to submit several mandatory clearances, including permission from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, a fire safety clearance and a structural stability report, among other required documents.
