Students of architecture, transport planning and urban development will get an opportunity to gain practical experience through the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
The initiative follows an academic collaboration between Ahmedabad-based Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University and Delhi’s School of Planning and Architecture (SPA). The partnership aims to help students understand the planning, design and urban development challenges associated with high-speed rail infrastructure and station areas.
Students to Work on Real-World Projects
Under the collaboration, undergraduate and postgraduate students will study bullet train-related topics through semester studios, thesis work and research projects. The initiative will connect classroom learning with real-world infrastructure development and planning challenges.
Students will explore various aspects of high-speed rail projects, including station design, transport connectivity, urban planning and development around railway stations.
Research to Support Future Urban Development
Through their academic projects, students will examine how major transport infrastructure projects can influence urban growth and transform surrounding areas.
Their research may generate new ideas, planning models and recommendations for state governments and development agencies. These findings could help promote sustainable development around stations along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor and other potential high-speed rail routes in the future.
Developing Skilled Transport Planning Professionals
The collaboration aims to involve hundreds of students every year and create a skilled workforce of architects, transport planners and urban development professionals.
By combining academic knowledge with practical exposure, the initiative seeks to prepare young professionals to contribute to India’s growing transport infrastructure and urban development sector.
