So, brace yourselves, folks! Starting now, Ahmedabad’s got a new rule—no big trees allowed near those huge billboards.
And honestly? This comes after complaints about how the city’s been trimming trees willy-nilly just to make ads visible. Like, aren’t they supposed to be preserving what little greenery we’ve got left? Anyway, at a recent meeting of the municipal standing committee, they decided no more big tree planting around new billboards. They’re only allowing some small trees now.
But then here’s where it gets messy—if you try to spot any billboard along main roads like Sabarmati Riverfront or near Airport every couple hundred meters, you’re gonna wonder: where can we even plant these small trees? Seems kinda backward, right?
On another note—hold up! The clean-up squad responsible for keeping the riverfront tidy just got slapped with a one lakh fine because guess what? They let things get dirty. Like why is that even happening?
And there’s more bad news! A fine was also recently issued to an ad agency for cutting down older trees instead of maintaining them properly. Who knew we’d be in a world where planting trees was a struggle?
Ngl, while they’re pushing online payments for tree trimming services so people don’t have to run errands anymore (which is nice), that doesn’t really fix the bigger issues here. Also, some plots worth 50 crores haven’t been paid for either. Looks like there are serious funding issues going on!
