TV presenter and former Bigg Boss contestant Shefali Bagga has voluntarily handed over ₹1.20 crore to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.
According to the ED chargesheet filed in a Raipur court, Bagga was paid ₹1.5 crore for making promotional videos for the betting app. Following questioning by the agency, she returned ₹1.20 crore to the ED.Bagga reportedly told the agency that she was unaware that the app was being operated illegally.
ED files chargesheet against 42 people
The ED has filed a chargesheet against 42 people in the case, including Ebix Group chairman Vikas Garg. The agency has alleged that illegal funds were routed through companies and used for stock market manipulation.Garg was earlier arrested, and the ED has seized assets worth more than ₹940 crore in the case.The chargesheet also names EaseMyTrip promoter Nishant Pitti, who is accused of receiving ₹59 crore in alleged proceeds from the syndicate.
Mahadev betting case
According to the ED, the illegal income generated through the Mahadev Online Book syndicate is estimated to be more than ₹75,000 crore. The agency has also investigated the involvement of celebrities who allegedly promoted the betting platform or participated in events linked to its promoters.The main promoters, Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, remain accused in the case. The ED has filed six chargesheets so far.
