The Gujarat Forest Department has announced that all wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in the state will reopen to tourists from October 9, 2026.
Every year, Gir National Park’s core safari zone and other wildlife sanctuaries remain closed during the monsoon season. The closure usually runs from June 16 to October 15. However, this year, the safari was closed a week later, on June 23.
According to a government notification, the decision to reopen the parks early was taken keeping in mind the upcoming festivals, including Navratri and Diwali.All sanctuaries and national parks across Gujarat will therefore welcome tourists from October 9.
