Revenue employees across Gujarat have announced a mass leave on October 6 and an indefinite statewide strike from October 7 if the government fails to address their long-pending demands. The protest could affect revenue services at Mamlatdar offices, Collector offices and other government offices across the state. The Revenue Employees Federation is seeking a resolution to 14 pending issues concerning employees of the Revenue Department. Their key demands include promotions, transfers and job charts. Employees claim they have repeatedly raised these issues with the government, but no final solution has been reached.
Employees claim 38 representations yielded no result
According to the employees, they submitted written and oral representations to the state government and administration 38 times over the past year. However, they claim that these efforts have not resulted in any positive response or concrete action. The protest involves employees at various levels of the Revenue Department, including Deputy Mamlatdars, Revenue Talatis and clerical staff. Employees say the prolonged delay in resolving their demands has increased dissatisfaction among the workforce.
Government warns of disciplinary action
Following the announcement of the mass leave, the state government has instructed district Collectors to ensure that employees remain present at work on October 6.The administration has warned that employees who remain absent despite the order could face administrative and disciplinary action, including a possible break in service.
Revenue services may be affected
If the strike goes ahead, several services related to land records, land documents, certificates and other revenue matters could be affected across Gujarat.
Farmers may face delays in completing land-related work, while citizens visiting Mamlatdar and Collector offices for certificates and other documents may also have to wait longer.
The government and the Revenue Employees Federation are now under pressure to resolve the dispute before the proposed indefinite strike begins on October 7.
