Traffic movement was disrupted after a major section of the road collapsed near Adani Circle on the 200-foot Sardar Patel (SP) Ring Road between Ramol and Vastral in Ahmedabad. The sudden collapse created a large pothole on the busy stretch, causing inconvenience to motorists and raising concerns over road safety.
Barricades Put Up, Traffic Diverted
Following the incident, barricades were immediately placed around the damaged section to prevent accidents and protect motorists. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) and traffic police also diverted vehicles near the spot and directed commuters towards alternative routes.
The stretch connecting Ramol and Vastral witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. The diversion has therefore added to the inconvenience faced by daily commuters.
Locals Raise Questions Over Road Maintenance
The latest road collapse comes amid reports of similar incidents in different parts of Ahmedabad in recent days. Residents have raised concerns over road maintenance and the quality of infrastructure work carried out by AUDA and the local administration.
The incident has also renewed questions over the safety of major roads that handle heavy traffic in the city.
