he Gujarat High Court has taken another step towards digitising judicial proceedings with the launch of an in-house electronic filing system under the eGujHC project. Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal inaugurated the paperless court module on September 30, 2026, in the presence of other judges of the High Court.
The initiative is based on the roadmap outlined in the eGujHC Vision Document 1.0 and will initially be implemented on a pilot basis for arbitration, tax and service-related matters. The system will subsequently be extended to other jurisdictions in phases.
The eGujHC platform has been designed to facilitate an end-to-end paperless judicial process. It features role-based dashboards for judges, lawyers, petitioners and registry officials, along with multi-factor and biometric authentication. The system also uses AI-based registry checks to identify deficiencies in filings at an early stage. Other features include touch-pen tools for judges to annotate documents and an automated page-matching facility for courtroom displays.
As part of the digital initiative, lawyers and petitioners will receive case-related updates directly on WhatsApp, including hearing dates and court orders. The system is intended to make access to case information faster and more convenient for stakeholders.
The High Court has also made online e-filing available round the clock for main cases and interim applications. The digital system is aimed at reducing procedural delays, simplifying court-related processes and advancing the objective of providing greater ‘Ease of Justice’ to citizens.
