The Department of Communication and Journalism at Gujarat University organised a special session on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti to help journalism students understand Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas, his work in journalism and his connection with Indian knowledge traditions.
Aalap Tripathi spoke about the Indian Knowledge System and explained how its traditions and values were connected with Gandhi’s philosophy.Dr Kiran Kapure discussed Gandhi’s contribution to journalism, including the publications he started and edited, as well as his views on the role and responsibilities of the press.
The speakers also interacted with students and discussed Gandhi’s association with journalists in India and abroad. They recommended books to help students gain a deeper understanding of Gandhi’s life, ideas and work.
