Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased across several cities from Thursday, October 1, raising fuel costs for restaurants, hotels, caterers, eateries and other businesses that depend on 19-kg cylinders.
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 62.50, from Rs 2,747.50 in September to Rs 2,810. In Mumbai, the cylinder now costs Rs 2,764, up Rs 63 from Rs 2,701.
Chennai has seen a Rs 66.50 increase, taking the price from Rs 2,916.50 to Rs 2,983. Patna recorded the highest increase among the cities listed, with the price rising by Rs 71.50 from Rs 3,029 to Rs 3,100.50. In Lucknow, the price has gone up by Rs 62.50 to Rs 2,932.50.
The latest revision comes at the beginning of the festive season, when activity in the food and hospitality sectors generally increases. The higher commercial LPG prices could add to operating expenses for restaurants, caterers and other small businesses as festive demand picks up.
Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged
The price revision is limited to commercial LPG cylinders, with rates for domestic consumers remaining unchanged. A 14.2-kg domestic cylinder continues to cost Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and Rs 957.50 in Chennai. In Lucknow, the price remains Rs 979.50, while consumers in Patna continue to pay Rs 1,031.50.
From October 1, domestic LPG consumers are also required to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication to book refills at the regulated retail price with applicable subsidy. Those who do not complete the authentication can continue to obtain LPG, but may have to pay the applicable market price without subsidy, subject to the rules of the respective oil marketing company.
