Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura Police and ‘She’ Team conducted a special checking drive on CG Road and around Municipal Market to curb reckless driving, traffic violations and harassment at night.
The police detained 106 vehicles during six hours of checking over two consecutive nights between 10 pm and 1 am. The drive was aimed at improving women’s safety and maintaining law and order in the area.
Among the vehicles detained were 21 without number plates, along with vehicles being driven without valid licences or proper documents and those with modified vehicles and fancy number plates. The seized vehicles included 26 Access scooters, 25 Burgman scooters, 19 Activas, six Bullets, three Jupiters and six cars.
According to the Zone 1 DCP, police had received repeated complaints about overspeeding, modified silencers, harassment of women and mobile phone snatching in the Navrangpura police station area. Following the complaints, police sub-inspectors and members of the ‘She’ Team carried out intensive checking on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Police said the drive was conducted to strengthen women’s safety and promote compliance with traffic rules. Citizens have been advised to carry valid driving licences and vehicle documents and follow traffic regulations.
